Who Should Pay for China’s Greenhouse Emissions?
So, the new question is who should pay for China’s Greenhouse emission? Well according to President Obama’s Commerce Secretary Gary Locke…its the American Taxpayer. “It’s important that those who consume the products being made all around the world to the benefit of America — and it’s our own consumption activity that’s causing the emission of greenhouse gases, then quite frankly Americans need to pay for that,” Locke stated in a speech to the American Chamber of Commerce in…Shanghai…China. Just a coincident I’m sure.
Gary Locke is another one of those “chicken-little” types…ala Al Gore. He claims there will be droughts and floods and of course the rising of sea levels. Doom and gloom is the usual tactic for these types.
Locke is a strong supporter of the huge energy tax called “Cap and Trade.” Cap and Trade is one of the biggest lies ever. It will not reduce CO2, as reported by the Environmental Protection Agency, however, it will increase energy taxes…as reported by the CBO.
I almost guarantee that Locke has some stock options in Goldman Sachs and/or General Electric. Both companies will benefit greatly with the passing of such a huge energy tax bill like “cap and trade.” This seems to be the motive of such alarmists. Claim global warming…disasters…and other evil proclamations…propose cap and trade…then
benefit from the taxpayers who are forced to comply. In the “cap and trade” bill, there is a provision to charge carbon tariffs to countries, such as China, who export goods such as steel, cooper and paper but fail to reduce their own emissions. Considering that China holds so much U.S. debt…do you foresee this happening? Neither do I.
China has surpassed the United States as the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases. The difference is that China produces most of their greenhouse emissions from factory productions while the U.S. emissions is mostly from domestic consumption…such as fuels to heat and cool buildings and to power vehicles. Only 25 percent of U.S. emissions come from factories.
So, we should immediately apologize for our way of life…again. How dare we consume products from other countries? We evil Americans must pay! Just ask Gary Locke. He will agree.

Woohoo,
USA falls to number 2 in emissions, Oh but wait maybe we should try to be even handed about the facts. China a nation of more than a billion people has more emissions than the US a nation of about 300k people… It’s easy to be deceptive with statistics, the US output per person is almost 4times as high as china’s. China=5.2 tons pp and the US= 19.4 pp. Facts can be pesky things or they can be handy things just depends which facts get ignored when making points.
No matter what stats are used…China still is ahead of the U.S. Max, you didn’t answer the question? Do you think we should pay for China or any other country’s greenhouse emissions?
Using facts, China’s greenhouse emission is from factories (as I stated in my article) and the U.S. emission is mainly from heating/cooling building and from vehicles (as I stated in my article).
No matter how you spin it…China is the number 1 greenhouse emitter. That’s a fact!
oo did you stomp your feet when you typed thats a fact? If you say china is 1# loud enough and enough times maybe people will ignore the per capita numbers. Yes now that China has finally surpassed US output of greenhouse gases its time for the US to get righteous about what those horrible Chinese are doing. And lets just ignore the fact that our per-capita prduction of those gases is almost 4xs Chinas.
As for answering the question. It presuposes I support cap and trade and since I don’t, I really have no intention of taking a position on how it should be applied. It’s a forced question. Kinda like “have you stoped beating your wife”. I am disinclined to answer questions that force me into choosing from options I don’t aprove of to begin with.
Thanx
