Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

Published by scottystarnes at 10:01 pm under Political Articles Edit This

barack-obama-liar.jpgObama has done it again. Last week the new Snitch Czar, Linda Douglas, came out and said basically that Obama didn’t say what he did say. It is on video and it was his words. I’m going to email flag@whitehouse.gov a copy of Obama’s speech today in Portsmouth, New Hampshire because his speech was fishy, filled with lies and misinformation.

I watch this sale-pitch, to be perfectly honest, because I wanted to see if anyone would ask the President any tough questions. Most of the questions taken were from his supporters, so we didn’t learn much. Same speech, same spin, same lies.

Ben Hirschensen was in the audience and asked President Obama this question:

“Mr. President, you’ve been quoted over the years when you were a senator and perhaps even before then, that you were essentially a supporter of a universal plan. I’m beginning to see that you’re changing that. Do you honestly believe that? Because that is my concern.

I’m on Medicare, but I still worry that if we go to a public option, period, that the private companies, the insurance companies, rather than competing, because who can compete with the government? The answer is nobody. So, my question is, do you still, as yourself now, support a universal plan, or are you open to the private industry still being maintained?”

OK. That was a simple question. This is how President Obama answered it:

Well, I think it’s an excellent question, so I appreciate the chance to respond. First of all, I want to make a distinction between a universal plan versus a single-payer plan, because those are two different things. A single-payer plan would be a plan like Medicare for all or the kind of plan that they have in Canada, where basically government is the only person — is the only entity that pays for all health care.

Everybody has a government paid-for plan, even though depending on which country, the doctors are still private or the hospitals might still be private. In some countries the doctors work for the government and the hospitals are owned by the government. But the point is, is that government pays for everything, like Medicare for all. That is a single-payer plan.

I HAVE NOT SAID THAT I WAS A SINGLE-PAYER SUPPORTER,because, frankly, we historically have had a employer-based system in this country, with private insurers, and for us to transition to a system like that, I believe would be too disruptive. So, what would end up happening would be a lot of people who currently have employer-based health care would suddenly find themselves dropped, and they would have to go into an entirely new system that had not been fully set up yet, and I would be concerned about the potential destructiveness of that kind of transition. All right?

So, I’m not promoting a single-payer plan. I am promoting a plan that will assure that every single person is able to get health insurance at an affordable price and that if they have health insurance, they are getting a good deal from the insurance companies. That’s what I’m fighting for.

So, our President came out on a nationally televised “town-hall meeting” and told a bold-faced lie. Obama said “I HAVE NOT SAID THAT I WAS A SINGLE-PAYER SUPPORTER.” He made this claim even though almost everyone who has been following the debate has heard these words from his mouth:

“I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program.” I see no reason why the United States of America, the wealthiest country in the history of the world, spending 14 percent of its Gross National Product on health care cannot provide basic health insurance to everybody. And that’s what Jim is talking about when he says everybody in, nobody out. A single payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. And that’s what I’d like to see. But as all of you know, we may not get there immediately. Because first we have to take back the White House, we have to take back the Senate, and we have to take back the House.”

This was said by Obama on June 30, 2003 while speaking to the Illinois AFL-CIO. I guess the videos found on the Internet was just someone using words Obama never said? Think again. Watch the video here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpAyan1fXCE&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Epnhp%2Eorg%2Fnews%2F2008%2Fjune%2Fbarack%5Fobama%5Fon%5Fsing%2Ephp&feature=player_embedded

In a Wall Street Journal article titled “Obama Touts Single-Payer System for Health Care,” Barak Obama said “he would consider embracing a SINGLE-PAYER health care system, beloved by liberals, as his plan for broader coverage evolves over time.”

In the same article, the WSJ quoted Obama speaking at a town hall meeting on the economy. Obma said “If I were designing a system from scratch, I would probably go ahead with a single-payer system.”  http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/08/19/obama-touts-single-payer-system/

I liked the Post Office analogy. So, government health care will be like, umm, the Post Office? That makes me feel so much better about Obama’s health care plan. Wonder if Obama knows the Post Office is in the red, just like Medicaid, and are “rationing” days?

Basically, the Post Office would be government run health care. Their competition just happens to be UPS and FedEx (private insurance that you choose). Obama’s analogy was terrible.

Both the UPS and FedEx are making profit while the Post Office is losing money and cutting (rationing) back on days of delivery. Is this Obama’s plan for health care? Is he out to make the competition (insurance companies) more money? He said it…I just report it!

Here is a great article to read about President Obama lying about his health care plan. http://hotair.com/archives/2009/08/11/correcting-misinformation-about-obamacare/
